Remote estimation of grassland gross primary production during extreme meteorological seasons

چکیده
Different models driven by remotely sensed vegetation indexes (VIs) and incident photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) were developed to estimate gross primary production (GPP) in a subalpine grassland equipped with an eddy covariance flux tower. Hyperspectral reflectance was collected using an automatic system designed for high temporal frequency acquisitions for three consecutive years, including one (2011) characterized by a strong reduction of the carbon sequestration rate during the vegetative season. Models based on remotely sensed and meteorological data were used to estimate GPP, and a cross-validation approach was used to compare the predictive capabilities of different model formula-

Air temperature estimation based on environmental parameters using remote sensing data
This study is aimed at estimating monthly mean air temperature (Ta) using the MODIS Land Surface Temperature (LST), Normalized Difference Vegetation Index (NDVI), latitude, altitude, slope gradient and land use data during 2001-2015. The results showed that despite some spatial similarities between annual spatial patterns of Ta and LST, their variations are significantly different, so that the...
متن کاملMonitoring and Assessing the 2012 Drought in the Great Plains: Analyzing Satellite-Retrieved Solar-Induced Chlorophyll Fluorescence, Drought Indices, and Gross Primary Production
We examined the relationship between satellite measurements of solar-induced chlorophyll fluorescence (SIF) and several meteorological drought indices, including the multi-time-scale standard precipitation index (SPI) and the Palmer drought severity index (PDSI), to evaluate the potential of using SIF to monitor and assess drought. We found significant positive relationships between SIF and dro...
متن کاملModeling Net Ecosystem Exchange for Grassland in Central Kazakhstan by Combining Remote Sensing and Field Data
Carbon sequestration was estimated in a semi-arid grassland region in Central Kazakhstan using an approach that integrates remote sensing, field measurements and meteorological data. Carbon fluxes for each pixel of 1 × 1 km were calculated as a product of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) and its fraction absorbed by vegetation (fPAR), the light use efficiency (LUE) and ecosystem respir...
متن کاملTower-Based Validation and Improvement of MODIS Gross Primary Production in an Alpine Swamp Meadow on the Tibetan Plateau
Alpine swamp meadow on the Tibetan Plateau is among the most sensitive areas to climate change. Accurate quantification of the GPP in alpine swamp meadow can benefit our understanding of the global carbon cycle. The 8-day MODerate resolution Imaging Spectroradiometer (MODIS) gross primary production (GPP) products (GPP_MOD) provide a pathway to estimate GPP in this remote ecosystem. However, th...
متن کاملEvaluation of Water Use Efficiency Derived from MODIS Products against Eddy Variance Measurements in China
Water use efficiency (WUE) is a useful indicator to illustrate the interaction of carbon and water cycles in terrestrial ecosystems. MODIS gross primary production (GPP) and evapotranspiration (ET) products have been used to analyze the spatial and temporal patterns of WUE and their relationships with environmental factors at regional and global scales. Although MODIS GPP and ET products have b...
